Minimum Qualifications |
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Minimum two years of experience performing lab duties in the area of plant research beyond that of a master's degree preferred. Pesticide license in Category 25 for seed treatment. |
Position Summary |
This position will perform laboratory duties related to maintenance of a large clonal sweet potato collection including tissue culture and greenhouse culture and assist with germination testing of the seeded collection. This position will communicate with
GRIN personnel for uploading research data to the public database. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Experience specific to in vitro plant germplasm maintenance including aseptic technique,
- sub-culturing, and establishing new in vitro cultures from greenhouse plants
- Experience in maintaining plants in a greenhouse setting and applying pesticides as needed
- Ability to assist with routine germination testing

- Work in cold environments including -18C freezers and 4C cold rooms and in hot greenhouse settings.
