Overview
A fast-growing deep-tech startup offering the SaaS platform is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Account Manager to spearhead our growth in the US and select European markets.
The technology offers the accuracy of quantum methods with the scalability of machine learning and enables R&D operations at top companies and universities in energy, electronics, chemicals, and automotive to overcome the limitations of traditional simulations.
They are rapidly expanding our global reach, and the US is a critical strategic market where you'll be instrumental in developing the new customer base and nurturing relationships within both industry and academia.
This role is ideal for a driven individual who excels at building strong, long-term relationships and is passionate about guiding clients through their digital transformation in materials research through their R&D phases by the highly advanced Materials Science & Quantum Simulations technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Client Relationship Management & Growth:
* Develop and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key accounts in academia, industry, and research institutions.
* Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
* Proactively identify opportunities for account expansion and additional service adoption based on client needs and evolving research landscapes.
* Conduct regular business reviews with clients to assess their ongoing needs, present new features, and discuss strategic alignment.
* Collaborate with the Customer Success Engineer team to ensure seamless technical support and successful platform utilization by clients.
Sales & Business Development:
* Drive new business development efforts by identifying, prospecting, and closing deals with potential clients in the materials science and computational chemistry sectors.
* Lead technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective customers, effectively articulating the value proposition of our platform.
* Understand and address customer needs and pain points, proposing tailored solutions leveraging the simulation capabilities.
* Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share.
* Negotiate contracts and terms with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
Market Insight & Strategy:
* Gather market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging customer needs to inform sales strategies and product development.
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build brand awareness, network, and generate leads.
* Provide valuable feedback from the market and customers to the product development and research teams, advocating for features and functionalities that meet market demands.
Internal Collaboration:
* Work closely with the Customer Success, Product Development, and Research teams to align sales strategies with product capabilities and customer satisfaction goals.
* Contribute to the development of sales materials, case studies, and proposals that highlight the unique benefits of the platform.
* Participate in internal team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the company.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics) required. Master's or Ph.D. preferred, particularly with a focus on computational aspects.
* 2+ years of experience in account management, sales, or business development preferably within a B2B SaaS or R&D-related technology environment.
* Familiarity with SaaS platforms and understanding of their value proposition.
* Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing a portfolio of key accounts.
* Knowledge or ability to understand and communicate technical solutions (materials science, simulation, or scientific software).
* Knowledge or ability to understand and articulate complex scientific and technical concepts related to atomic-level simulations, molecular dynamics, quantum chemistry, etc.
* Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), Microsoft Office Suite, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Notion).
* Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
* Comfortable engaging global stakeholders with strong cultural awareness.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a customer-centric approach.
* Willing to travel frequently for customer engagement, both in the US and abroad.
* Ability to occasionally accommodate and attend meetings early morning or late evening to collaborate with teams in Asia and Europe.
Preferred:
* Industry experience with materials, chemicals, automotive, or energy sectors.
* Familiarity with atomic simulation, cheminformatics, scientific computing, computational chemistry, materials science, or scientific software/simulation tools.
* Direct experience or strong understanding of computational chemistry methods (e.g., molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, quantum chemistry).
* Network within the materials science, chemistry, or pharmaceutical industries.
