Position: Sales Engineer - Industrial Fastening Solutions
Reports to: Sales Director (Strategic and New Business Development)
FLSA: Exempt
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Overview:
A leading innovator in industrial fastening solutions, dedicated to providing cutting-edge technology and exceptional customer service, is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Sales Engineer to join our team in Carol Stream, IL.
This critical role will bridge the gap between their engineered components and the technical needs of their clients in diverse industries. The ideal candidate will leverage their deep engineering knowledge and exceptional communication skills to understand customer challenges, propose technical solutions, and drive sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert technical support during sales calls and client meetings, offering comprehensive presentations on our business model, products, and capabilities.
* Develop in-depth knowledge of key suppliers' production and secondary processing capabilities through site visits to provide comprehensive support to both our sales team and customers.
* Act as the primary engineering liaison between clients and subcontractors, addressing all matters related to product design, application, and function. This includes performing detailed application studies using various tools and materials, and generating comprehensive technical reports.
* Partner closely with our commercial staff and customers to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) proposals, often involving on-site assessments of manufacturing operations.
* Cultivate strong relationships with customers' engineering teams to foster early involvement in new projects and product development cycles.
* Offer technical assistance to our sales team throughout the new product development and launch phases.
* Conduct technical training sessions for our commercial staff to enhance their product knowledge and technical understanding.
* Provide agile and adaptive technical assistance to customers based on evolving needs and specific project requirements.
* Offer technical interpretation of engineering requirements from 2D/3D drawings and specifications, and manage 3D CAD software to support the commercial team's needs.
* Proactively identify and engage in other tasks as necessary to support sales efforts and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred).
* Solid technical background is essential, with a strong preference for experience with internal and externally threaded fasteners.
* Proficient in blueprint reading, including GD&T.
* Demonstrable proficiency in the usage of common fastener inspection tools (caliper, micrometer, thread gages, etc.).
* Proficient in the use of PC and related operating system software, along with engineering-related programs (especially 2D and 3D construction techniques).
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities effectively.
* Travel: Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a sales engineering, applications engineering, or equivalent technical sales role.
