Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Regional Director is responsible for creating and implementing the strategic direction for the medical practices. In concert with the COO, the Regional Director is responsible for leading the practice transformation initiatives and is held accountable to meet the organization's short-and long-term goals and objectives including population health management, revenue growth, profitability, quality, service excellence, patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Key responsibilities include providing leadership in the development and/or implementation of core operational, clinical and financial programs designed to enhance and improve the overall performance of the individual practice sites, as well as regional and organization-wide practice operations. The Regional Director manages Senior Practice Managers and partners with the Regional Medical Director and other key stakeholders on strategic initiatives.

The Regional Director will provide oversight to the practice sites positioned in the Western half of Connecticut and should be comfortable traveling to sites as needed for on-site meetings.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provide strategic and administrative direction for policies, procedures, services and programs for assigned practices; provides oversight in areas such as quality, process improvement, customer service, human resources management, information systems, finance and general clinic operations
  • Work collaboratively with the Regional Medical Director and other clinical leadership in assuring quality patient care is provided in an efficient and cost-efficient manner while meeting all regulatory standards
  • Foster, develop and maintain strong positive relationships with providers; responsible for the onboarding of new providers and off-boarding of providers leaving the organization
  • Participate in the development and implementation of organization-wide practice management strategies that will provide standardization and meet the organization's short- and long-term goals
  • Demonstrate a continuous process improvement focus through the ongoing analysis of practice operations to determine potential areas for improvement, engaging all members of the care team as appropriate, and providing leadership and assistance in the implementation of improvements
  • Lead Senior Practice Managers of assigned practices to include recruitment, performance evaluation and development; work to build and create a cohesive management team in assigned region and individual practice sites while fostering an environment of accountability
  • Develop annual goals and objectives to track progress and results on a routine informal basis, with a formal annual performance meeting; provide coaching and mentoring to ensure goals are met; develop and monitor practice site operating budgets as well as ensuring that performance goals and objectives are in place and being measured for all support staff
  • Facilitate the career development of Senior Practice Managers and Practice Managers to support the projected growth of the organization
  • Participate in financial analysis and strategic planning for the assigned market and practice sites
  • Foster effective collaboration between all ProHealth departments to ensure an integrated, service-oriented approach to providing services and supporting practices in reaching their goals
  • Lead regional financial management activities, including the development and maintenance of annual budgets and expense management; monitor with explanations of variances and action steps needed to achieve budget
  • Direct the creation of and/or prepare operational and financial reports and analyses to assess progress and trends; provide appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions
  • Review and communicate practice and group scorecards; provide leadership in troubleshooting areas of deficiency and work with appropriate constituents to implement strategies/tactics for improvement, ensuring that goals and objectives of the market, providers, practices and organization are met
  • Engage in and manage the strategic assessment of marketplace needs and the competitive environment on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in the coordination and leadership of General Practice Manage Meetings

Required Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of leadership experience in a medical group practice
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team, including setting goals, providing guidance and feedback, and driving performance to achieve organizational objectives
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel throughout eastern Connecticut as needed
  • Driver's license and access to reliable transportation


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience managing large physician practices and/or multi-site physician practices
  • Experience with population health management in a medical practice setting
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lean/Six Sigma process improvement tools and techniques



Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
