Job Summary: The Assistant Ski Patrol Director supports the Ski Patrol Director in managing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the ski patrol team. This role focuses on scheduling, documentation, budgeting, operations, compliance, and coordination with other resort departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality safety and medical services on the mountain. From time to time the role may act as the department Manager on Duty or Mountain Manager on duty.

Applicants must be 21 years of age.

Hourly:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $36.12 - $50.57 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations and oversight of the ski patrol department.
  • Patrol Team management, mentorship and leadership.
  • Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll documentation for patrol staff. Other administrative duties may apply.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, equipment inventory, and medical supplies.
  • Department safety leader. Safety meetings, safety culture, reporting and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with resort policies, federal, state and local regulations, including but not limited to ATF, OSHA, NSP, Placer County regulations, and other industry safety standards.
  • Prepare reports, track department budget, and manage procurement of supplies.
  • Coordinate patrol team meetings, training sessions, and certification renewals. These may include but are not limited to exchanges, explosives handling, medical certifications, dog schools and avalanche training courses.
  • Act as liaison between ski patrol, mountain operations, medical providers, and resort management.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews of patrol staff.
  • Fill in as needed for patrol duties, including responding to incidents on-mountain.


Competencies and Job Requirements:
  • Previous experience in ski patrol or mountain operations required; 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience maintaining administrative records, concentration on safety.
  • Proficiency with scheduling software, MS Office Suite (especially Excel), Vena, 365, and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of ski area safety protocols and medical/rescue procedures.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Expert level ski skills
  • Current certifications in OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care), CPR/AED; Avalanche and EMT certifications a plus.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at an advanced level.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • National Avalanche School, or AAA/AAIRE Pro 1

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Must be capable of walking or standing 70% or more of a normal 10 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50lbs. Must be capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
