*Onsite-*Dubuque, IA *Technical Skill* * Customer Service * Patient Access * Hospital * Healthcare * ER * EPIC & HealthQuest *Description* The Patient Access Representative will work onsite at Mercy locations in Dubuque IA. The position will work in the Emergency Department to handle frontline patient access and check-in. The position will be responsible for registering patients for service delivery. Patient interactions will primarily be in-person, but there will be some over the phone support. Together, the Patient Access Representative is expected to enhance the patient experience for improved healthcare service. This is a great opportunity for recent healthcare graduates, professionals, or those interested working in high-pressure, emergency environments. *Duties* * Serve as the main point of contact for patients, who enter the Emergency Department. * Maintain great customer service and empathy regardless of circumstances. * Greet patients/family members and verify demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information. * Will not handle any pre-services, strictly handling point of service for the patients. * Enter patient/guarantor information in the accounting system. * Collect patient signatures on appropriate forms and the imaging/copying of registration documents. * Provide directional support to patients, family members and visitors. * Process signed physician orders and conduct online insurance eligibility/benefit verification on designated cases. * Notify patient/guarantor and collects patient liabilities. * Refer appropriate cases to financial counseling for follow-up and consultation. * Identify and select correct medical record number for patients already listed in the hospital database (master patient index) or creates a new medical record number for unlisted/new patients. * Validate and enter patient demographic information and primary care physician information into the hospital information system. * Maintain understanding of various insurance payers including capitation services and obtains insurance referrals, insurance forms, patient financial responsibility forms, and insurance cards. * Collect self-pay deposits, co-payments, and deductibles from patients. * Identify outstanding balances from previous visits, notifying patients during financial discussion and requests payment. *Schedule & Work Environment* * Hiring 1st , 2nd , & 3rd shift representatives * Hospital/Emergency Room * EPIC / HealthQuest * Will receive training on software applications * Training will be virtual for the first 2 weeks and completed on-site at location * Candidates will be heavily supported by staff if they have any questions or concerns * Will be held to performance metrics mainly focused on Quality, as this will cause huge impacts to POS collections *Interviews & Start Date * * Interviews July 17-July 22 * 2-step interview process * 1st step, virtual with HR * 2nd step, in-person w/ ER Team * Start Date: August 4, 2025 *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
