Job Summary

Under direction of the Contracts and Grants supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the fiscal control, accounting and reporting of advanced level contracts and grants awarded in support of UC Davis research, training and public service programs This position involves analyzing, monitoring, preparing, and reconciling financial information to provide financial and statistical data for the control of contract and grant operations. This position also involves the preparation of financial reports to meet internal and external requirements. The incumbent will work on special projects in contract and grants management as well. The incumbent's assigned portfolio will consist of approximate complexity levels as follows: basic-10%, moderate- 30%, advanced-SO%, complex-10%.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related area or equivalent years of experience and or training (including financial research administration).
  • Experience with general financial administration principles and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as they relate to contract and grant administration.
  • Experience processing award documents and amendments and independently managing problems associated with fund set up.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of spreadsheet software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. Experience working with financial management systems.
  • At least 2 years experience with working with research administration guidelines including Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in university environment or large research institution and/or medical center or equivalent years' experience and or training.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate, both in person and in writing to develop memos, policies, procedures, etc. and the ability to convey them to a diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise level financial systems.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent sponsor regulations including 0MB Guidance, the NSF and NIH/PHS Grants Policy Statements, Federal Acquisition Regulation, application of indirect cost rates, and other complex concepts in research administration.
  • Analytical skills to perform advanced level financial analysis and customized reporting; ability to process data, analyze information, think critically, solve moderate to complex problems, and make effective decisions.
