COST ACCOUNTANT

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:

1. Ensure timely monthly reporting from plant operating locations of inventory.
2. Prepare the inventory pricing entry and ensure accuracy of all finished goods, packaging, ingredient, and plant operating supply inventories.
3. Communicate monthly pricing for key commodities to management.
4. JD Edwards - Oracle duties:
   
   
   
   1. Create and maintain Item Master & Branch, Quality test Specifications/Profiles, Inventory Integrity alert-corrections, & related issues;
      
      
      
      1. Research, troubleshoot inventory related issues. Approve corrective actions; and,
      2. Manufacturing and shipping functionality - provide support.
      
      
      
      
   2. Ensure that product cost relates to actual ledger cost.
   3. Prepare and review audit schedules in a timely manner for auditing process. Includes support related to bank audits and inventory appraisals.
   4. Review monthly financial results analyzing significant variances from prior month figures (or prior year-to-date). Advise management as to significant variances.
   5. Responsible for preparation of various periodic government surveys related to production, energy usage, and financial condition.
   6. Perform analysis on individual plant results working directly with plant staff.
   7. Perform special analysis on projects requested by management involving such items as milk movement costs, operating statement variances, plant expenses, etc.
   8. Additional duties & responsibilities as needed by management and/or plants.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• 3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred/required.
