Job Description

Summary
The Office of Reservations and Events provides logistics and services support for events and meetings taking place throughout the University of Missouri campus seven days a week. This support includes planning with clients, setting up rooms, providing service to events, and assisting with technology as needed.

The Event Operations Coordinator will assist with the planning and coordination of the logistical needs to directly support event operations across campus, to include the space conversions necessary for successful events. This position assists with events and equipment usage in the Student Unions buildings, Reynolds Alumni Center, Bond Life Sciences Building, Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health Building, Museum of Art & Archaeology, several outdoor spaces, and other locations as needed. The Event Operation Coordinator also assists with equipment deliveries via the vehicle fleet, including a box truck, minivan, or golf cart. This position works with a tight knit team that includes reservations coordinators, an operations manager, labor coordinator, and an AV Specialist. In addition to this full-time staff, the unit is supported by approximately 30 student employees that function as daily leads and event crew. The ability to plan, foresee problems, and handle complex logistics is critical to the position. The position is responsible for maintaining high quality and excellence standards that are expected by our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site senior leadership in rotation with other full-time department staff.
  • Directly plan or coordinate event logistics and execute event details as needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend process and procedure changes to improve the event operations.
  • Work on additional projects as assigned by senior level management.
  • A willingness to work a flexible schedule that will often include nights and weekends.
Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm except when event needs dictate night and weekend work; then schedule will flex away from standard business hours.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • Experience in event/hospitality field, logistics, or business administration
  • Experience with EMS (event management software).
  • A valid driver's license and a willingness to drive a 16' straight box truck as needed.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $21.71-$24.04 hourly

Grade: GGS-009
