Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for tax true-ups
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of property tax accounts
- Assist in the preparation and review of annual property tax budgets
- Review tax payments and prepare wire transfers and/or check requests
- Ensure proper coding of payments to the appropriate general ledger accounts
- Research tax issues, accounts, liens, and assist with onboarding new acquisitions
- Collaborate with external property tax consultants to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
- Respond to inquiries from taxing authorities and internal management, providing thorough research and resolution
- Support special projects and process improvements as assigned
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus in property tax, though not required
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and journal entries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Self-motivated; self-starter
- Preferred experience in accounting software SAP
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
- The Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
- The Senior Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
- The Lead Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
