Your role with us

As a Dispatcher at Salem Health, you'll be at the heart of our safety and security operations, ensuring a positive, secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. In this vital role, you'll serve as the central communicator, connecting field officers with critical information and providing top-tier support to those we serve. You'll help safeguard Salem Health's property and interests by proactively preventing security risks and coordinating swift responses when needed. What you'll do

  • Master Communicator: Manage and prioritize incoming communications via radio, phone, email, and fax. Keep field officers updated on real-time events and requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Customer Service Pro: Assist patients, visitors, and staff with parking information, lost and found, badge access, and hospital safety alerts with a focus on friendly, solution-driven service.
  • Access & Badge Control: Process and vet badge requests for employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, and students, maintaining security standards.
  • Accurate Data Management: Enter information into the security reporting system with precision. Organize and archive records in line with departmental procedures.
  • Surveillance & Incident Response: Monitor video surveillance for suspicious activity and coordinate responses as needed. Respond to various alarms-infant abduction prevention, intrusion detection, duress alarms, and more-according to hospital protocols.

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional Information

  • The ideal candidate will bring experience in one or more of the following areas: security, law enforcement, military, customer service, or call center environments.

  • Proficiency in typing with a high level of accuracy (minimum 40 WPM).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively, especially in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
  • DPSST unarmed certification preferred or obtained within one month of hire.
  • Complete an initial violence prevention and de-escalation course within months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required within three months of hire.
  • NIMS HICS 100, 200 and 700 on-line certificates obtained within one year of hire.
