Summary The Genetics Program Coordinator closely collaborates with Genetic Counselors to ensure patients needing genetic risk assessment are screened and scheduled appropriately. The Genetic Counseling Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that the patient is roomed on the day of visit and appropriate follow-up is completed after visit with Genetic Counselor. The Genetic Counseling Coordinator is also responsible for collecting patient specimen and ensuring that the specimen is received by the appropriate lab team member in a timely manner. Tasks will include guiding patient to visit, collecting lab, packaging and transporting patient samples and completing lab paperwork under clinician guidance. Additionally, the coordinator will also communicate with patients, genetic testing labs and other clinic staff as needed. The Genetic Counseling coordinator is also responsible for collecting data reports and presenting information regarding patient access, patient demographics and other key data to enable programmatic success. Responsibilities Patient intake and follow-up 40% - Scheduled patient reminder calls - Completing patient intake - Addressing patient concerns/ questions - Coordinating with referral coordinator if rescheduling is needed - - Following up with genetic counselors as needed Day of visit support_40% - Patient intake and rooming - Lab draw and specimen collection - Submitting labs to appropriate lab team timely - - Schedule patient follow up appointment - Verify samples are transported to Grady Referrals Lab Administrative tasks and follow-up -20% - Maintain data on genetic risk assessment program using excel or other data tools - Follow-up with patients as needed - Follow-up with clinical team or clinic staff as needed - Execute quality improvement projects as needed Education Required:- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience acceptable in lieu of degree Preferred: Experience Required: Two (2) or more years job related experience Preferred: Skills/Certifications/Licenses Required: Medical Assistant Certified Preferred:
