Job Summary

South Mountain Community College is hiring for a Technology Support Specialist Senior.

This position provides advanced-level user and technical support for specialized equipment, networks, operating systems, applications, and information security apparatuses. The Technology Support Specialist Senior provides secondary support for various Endpoint Management systems (such as MECM, Sophos, & Umbrella). As the lead specialist, this position will serve as a point of escalation for lower-level support teams, and will work with management to train and coach new and existing technical staff.

Essential Functions

35% - Provides level 3 computer hardware/software support and troubleshooting. Utilizing advanced knowledge in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, restoring, upgrading and installing equipment and software. Provides client-focused technical support in a timely manner; provides support ticket status updates when requested.

25% - Serves as a lead technician while providing direction, training and coaching to level 1 and level 2 technicians.

15% - Provides level 2 support for Endpoint Configuration Management (MECM). These tasks include but are not limited to computer image creation and application packaging, endpoint power management, and endpoint security. Serves as the final point of support for MECM related issues before escalation to the MECM Administrator (Tier III).

15% - Develops high quality documentation for training and support purposes.

10% - Maintains technical competency through specialized training, certification, and attending industry related conferences. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and four years of technical experience in an area directly related to assignment. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Associate's degree or higher in an Information Technology related field.

B. Five years of experience providing technical support within an educational institution.

C. Two years of experience deploying computers and software via an endpoint configuration management system.

D. Experience creating technical documentation and other training materials.

E. Experience coordinating the following types of IT-related projects: (computer rollouts, enterprise software adoptions, and\or cyber-security implementations).

F. A current IT certification (A+, Network+, Microsoft, or ITIL).

Special Working Conditions

May include evenings and/or weekends to meet needs of the department. Local travel.
