Job Summary The Technology Support Specialist will provide customer service, training, and support to faculty, staff, and students via phone, email and in person. They will respond to service requests, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, and assist with utilization of hardware, software and multimedia equipment. The Technology Support Specialist will install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Windows 7/8.1/10 and Mac OS systems, networked printers, and mobile devices. Will be responsible to troubleshoot and resolve computer and printer network connectivity issues. Essential Functions 40% - Provide troubleshooting, repair, general usage of and recommendations of Computer Hardware, Software, and general usage support to faculty, staff and students of technology in the classrooms, labs, and administrative areas of campus; user administration (setup and maintaining account); implement the policies for the use of the computer system and network; interact with network, technical, faculty, staff, and students responding technical inquiries to minimize their frustration 30% - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities; configure / add new services as necessary; access ongoing, hardware performance and upgrades, and resource optimization as required; configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required; project management for systems-related projects such as classroom/lab remodel/replacement, new classroom deployment, classroom/lab/administrative software implementation, software purchases and licensing, and interdepartmental coordination of staff; Asset Reclaimation; research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks; and identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale 30% - Provide technical support in-person, via email and over the phone for students, faculty and staff on college owned computers Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience with desktop user support or technical support for equipment, networks, systems, telecommunications, or technology security, appropriate to assignment. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Two (2) or more years of experience working in Information Technology B. Knowledge and understanding of Windows 10/11 and Mac OS operating systems C. Demonstrated experience in an Enterprise environment with Microsoft SCCM D. Experience with Active Directory E. Demonstrated experience in an Enterprise environment with Jamf F. Experience providing customer service in Information Technology Support G. Experience working Desktop Support in an educational environment Special Working Conditions
