Position Overview:
Ameresco's Accounting and Finance Team has an opportunity for a Corporate Accounting Manager. We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee corporate-level accounting functions, manage the monthly financial close process, support financial audits, and identify process improvements. The role is hybrid and based out of our Framingham, MA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general accounting and financial reporting for corporate-level accounting functions.

  • Manage the monthly financial close process including analyzing general ledger accounts, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing and/or preparing the accompanying supporting schedules and preparing balance sheet flux analyses.

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, ensuring that transactions are accurately explained and supported.

  • Support financial audits and SEC review processes, acting as primary liaison to auditors.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies process enhancements; develop and present proposed solutions to finance leadership and manage the implementation of approved initiatives.

  • Partner with IT and the financial systems team to reduce manual processes and improve the scalability of accounting operations with automation and technology.

  • Help research and analyze complex accounting issues and provide guidance on the application of U.S. GAAP.

  • Assist with the internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including results of operations, specified items, balance sheet, cash flow and applicable analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for stand-alone financial statements for Energy Asset line of business.

  • Build relationships and regular communication with operational leaders to provide direct and timely assistance on matters that have accounting and reporting implications.

  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, including Big 4/public accounting and public company financial reporting.

  • Experience with NASDAQ or NYSElisted companies, including SEC reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.

  • Proficient in SOX 404 compliance, internal controls frameworks (COSO/PCAOB).

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365, NetSuite), Excel (pivot tables, macros), and disclosure tools (e.g., XBRL, WDesk).

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership-ability to influence without authority, drive results, and develop staff.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with a commitment to accuracy and process improvement.

  • Adaptable, pragmatic, and self-motivated in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Certified Public Accountant title preferred.
