Job Duties |
Sports Information/Public Relations - 50%
- Act as the primary athletic contact for designated sports.
- Develop and compose research notes, game recaps, and feature articles to enhance media engagement.
- Provide guidance and direction to coaches, staff, on East Carolina University, American Athletic Conference and NCAA policies and public relations strategies, facilitating the dissemination of accurate information.
- Create and produce a variety of publications, including digital programs, flip cards, and record books, to support communication efforts.
- Assist with featured articles on ECUPirates.com.
Media Relations - 35%
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media representatives across print, radio, television, and digital platforms to promote assigned sports.
- Conduct interviews and facilitate communication opportunities as needed to enhance media coverage.
- Oversee in-game, postgame and press conferences for assigned sports programs, ensuring effective information delivery to the media.
- In-game statistician for designated sports.
Social Media - 5%
- Assist in the coordination and execution of the department's social media strategy, aligning with overall strategic plan.
- Manage social media accounts for designated teams, ensuring comprehensive coverage of pregame, in-game, and postgame activities.
- Collaborate with creative, video production and radio rights holder teams to generate engaging content for social media platforms.
Graphic Design - 5%
- Collaborate with creative services department and head coaches to conceptualize and develop graphic design projects that support departmental initiatives.

Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
License or Certification required by statute or regulation |

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
Degree in communications, journalism, sport management or public relations and excellent writing and verbal communication skills are preferred.
Experience in a collegiate athletics media relations or sports information office is preferred, including at one of the following levels: graduate assistant, internship or full-time.
Experience and content development with "new media", to include World Wide Web, digital audio, digital video, digital photography, and all social platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
Knowledge of sports statistical analysis and publication design/production, and proficiency in related software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop and sports statistical (StatCrew and Genius) software. |
