Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |

The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (
NCCPSS) Program is a collaborative initiative between the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services (
DMH/DD/
SUS) and the University of North Carolina School of Social Work. The program's vision is to build a qualified Peer Support Specialist workforce supported, respected, and recognized as a credible and competent part of the mental health and substance use disorder service system. Through quality training, technical assistance, and strong partnerships, the
NCCPSS Program prepares Certified Peer Support Specialists to effectively serve individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges across North Carolina. |
Position Summary |

The North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist Program is seeking a Business Services Coordinator to manage daily business operations, including processing and tracking invoices, depositing program funds, and reviewing and approving travel requests and expense reports. The coordinator will assist with vendor contracting, reconcile accounts, and resolve discrepancies in expenditures. This role also involves performing monthly account reconciliations by comparing internal records with general ledger data and maintaining organized budget documentation, including forecasts, adjustments, and supporting materials. The coordinator will monitor program expenditures, flagging any variances or overspending, and will work closely with the school's business office to ensure compliance with university, school, and state policies. Additionally, the coordinator will facilitate clear communication between the
NCCPSS Program and the business office, keeping staff informed of relevant updates and changes, while also supporting the Principal Investigator and Program Director in university administrative processes and regulatory compliance. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Strong expertise in project operations, including contract and grant financial management, budgeting, and invoicing
- Proficiency in university financial systems, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential
- Sharp attention to detail, a customer service mindset, and strong communication skills tailored to diverse stakeholders, including individuals receiving mental health and substance use services

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
- Competent understanding of the NC Division of MHDDSAS contracting regulations and procedures
- Experience with the University's TouchNet system and the process for making check deposits
- Experience with an online Learning Management System
