Description
Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing past and present financial data of the organization and estimating future revenues and expenditures. The incumbent is responsible for gathering, forecasting, and trending data, creating spreadsheets, writing reports, reviewing non-legal agreements, preparing budgets, and monitoring variances as assigned throughout the year.


Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive. Those in bold are essential duties of the position:



  • Coordinate with finance team leadership to review and provide financial information and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to gather information to create financial modeling of various scenarios to assist with management decision making.
  • Assist with the month end close, financial statement prep, variance reporting, cost report, and 990 preparations.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for department controls, systems, policies and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency with finance team leaders.
  • Assist with development of the annual operating and capital budget based on inputs gathered/provided; analyze budget variances and recommend strategies for improvement as assigned.
  • As assigned, participate and/or coordinate financial related audits with finance leadership.
  • Establish and maintain financial files and records that document transactions.
  • In coordination with department leadership, work with outside consultants to ensure compliance and timely filing with external organizations, such as Medicare, independent auditors, IRS, State of Michigan, etc.
  • Ensure continued update of job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; and maintaining professional networks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least five years' experience in an accounting or financial analysis position.
  • Experience with Dynamics GP or another similar ERP platform.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and FASB standards of accounting as well as finance theory and application to a business organization.


Preferred

  • A master's degree or CPA/CMA certification
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.
  • Experience with Dynamics ERP platform implementation.
