Job Description:

Assists the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program. Teaches safe and effective lifting techniques, speed development, agility and conditioning exercise for the enhancement of athletic ability and prevention of injury. Supports and effectively communicates the strength and conditioning department's philosophy and vision to the student-athlete and sport coaching staffs. Assists in maintaining the strength and conditioning equipment and facility.

JOB DUTIES

  • Assists in the design and implementation of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of individuals athletes and teams. Provides a high level of support in the development of strength and conditioning programs specific to sports performance and injury prevention.

  • Leads individual and group training sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and effectiveness. Coaches student-athletes in a way that facilitates confidence, competence, autonomy, and sports performance.

  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with student-athletes, sports coaches, support staff, administrators, etc.

  • Maintains and monitors training facilities to ensure a training environment that is safe, clean, and organized.

  • Develops and maintains communication between sports coaches and support staff to best serve the competitive goals of our athletic department. Works closely with sports coaches, athletics trainers, and other staff to ensure cohesive and comprehensive training programs.

  • Contributes effectively to a healthy and productive work environment.

  • Adheres to all NCAA and Conference affiliated bylaws set forth.

  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in exercise science, human performance, kinesiology or related field.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in exercise science, human performance, kinesiology or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • One year of full-time coaching experience in strength and conditioning and/or sports performance.

  • Productive organizational and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.

  • Proficiency in using fitness assessment tools and performance tracking.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of coaches, trainers and staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Injury prevention and post-rehabilitation.

  • Research methods and statistics.

  • Athlete monitoring (testing and assessment of fitness fatigue relationship).

  • Periodization and programming (organization of training).

  • Leadership development.

  • Acknowledgment of the importance of nutrition in the development of the student-athlete and take an active role to accomplish this.

  • Ability to teach and design training programs that incorporate student-athlete safety.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Current NSCA-CSCS and/or CSCCA-SCCC certifications are required.

  • Current certification in CPR/AED.
