Salary range:
Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Neurology ranging from $220,000.00 - $289,940.00. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the Professorial Series (Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, In Residence, Ladder Rank) and Professor of Teaching Series - Health Sciences Compensation Plan. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Headache Specialist

UC Irvine

Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible physician for a full-time faculty position to lead the development of a comprehensive Headache Program at UC Irvine Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity to build and shape a specialized program within a dynamic academic medical center.

Positions are available either in the non-tenure clinical track faculty role within the Health Sciences Clinical series or in the Clinical Neurology series at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.

The headache specialist faculty member will play a key role in building and advancing the comprehensive headache program and outpatient headache clinic within UCI Neurology. Clinical duties in the Department of Neurology will include patient care, academic involvement, patient and staff education, as well as research activities.

The successful candidate will have strong experience and a demonstrated commitment to caring for patients with headache. They will participate in specialty and interdisciplinary clinics at the University campus in Irvine as well as other UCI Health locations. We seek a highly motivated, collaborative individual who excels in clinical care and is dedicated to teaching and/or clinical research. Experience in developing a clinical trials program is preferred.

Candidates must hold an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., or equivalent degree with active board certification or eligibility in Neurology with fellowship training in headache.

Candidates should have experience working in a collaborative, comprehensive neurosciences center, with a strong dedication to patients, their families, and delivering excellent care. Active involvement in international, national, and/or regional professional societies is preferred. Experience in teaching and/or participation in clinical research or clinical trials is highly desirable.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The successful candidate will teach fellows, residents, and medical students, provide patient care, participate in scholarly activities, and contribute to both University and community service.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "Neurology" Series: The successful candidate will be expected to conduct significant research, deliver high-quality patient care, and teach fellows, residents, and medical students. In addition, contributing to both University and public service is an important part of the role. Exceptional teaching skills are a key requirement for appointment in this series.
