Job Details

The Bronchoscopy Technician is the expert in the use and maintenance of bronchoscopy equipment and instrumentation. This position functions as the technical expert responsible for the reprocessing and maintenance of all bronchoscopy equipment. Technician aids in preparation both pre- and post-operatively, education, procedure analysis, flexible endoscope reprocessing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting. Responsible for monitoring diagnostic and therapeutic progress of patients for the duration of their testing or treatment.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently with the values of Jefferson.
  • Provides assistance to Bronchoscopy RN, Bronchoscopy RRT, and Interventional Pulmonologists.
  • Assists Bronchoscopy RN in the performance of all bronchoscopy procedures as needed.
  • Responsible for the setup, use, troubleshooting, and maintenance of bronchoscopy equipment.
  • Responsible for quality assurance guidelines and reprocessing scopes.
  • Responsible for adhering to sanitary policies and procedures and infection control guidelines.
  • Provides assistance with the Bronchoscopy RN in ordering and maintaining par levels of the Bronchoscopy equipment.
  • Provides clinical services according to pulmonary/cardiac practice standards and acts as a resource to the staff.
  • Transportation of patients to and from inpatient care areas and outpatient recovery areas.
  • Demonstrates competency in managing data. Tracks cases, billing for procedures, inventory, and equipment.
  • Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Ensures appropriate supply inventory and manages equipment cleaning and sterilization processes. Enters written and electronic data accurately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, and graduation or certification from an accredited school or program where their credentialing has been obtained.

Experience:

  • One year of bronchoscopy or procedural training, or critical care experience, preferred.

Minimum Certifications, Registration, or License Requirements:

  • Possesses one of the following credentials: PCT II, Endo Tech, OR Tech, or Anesthesia Tech
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider required; ACLS - preferred
