PRINT TECHNICIAN B

TITLE: Print Technician B

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Responsible for print presses. This includes direct involvement with all of the maintaining, adjusting, cleaning and training associated with the presses. Success of this position should create less downtime due to print press related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• In-depth understanding of print press operations a plus
• Experience in operating extruders with in-line flexographic print presses preferred
• Basic understanding of machine operations and adjustments
• Experience in operating extruders a plus
• Ability to lift 30 pounds, work on feet for 12 hours, climb stairs
• Good technical skills - some background in a mechanical field
• Good attendance and work habits
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work shift work, weekends and 12-hour shifts (day and night)
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Setup, troubleshoot, operate, and maintain all print press types at Minigrip.
• Train extrusion operators in the operation of the print press(es) they are assigned to run (Taiwanese, Retroflex).
• Will make recommendations to Production Manager and Team Leaders regarding any presses that need to come out of operation.
• Clean/rebuild EDBs off-line and ensure there are always spares available.
• Assist operators in troubleshooting and maintaining print presses.
• Perform daily checks on each print press, record results on daily checklist, and assist operator in correcting any issues found.
• Ensure that doctor blades and foam ends are in good condition and seated correctly to prevent leaks.
• Ensure that Anilox print and plate cylinders are rolling freely when not engaged.
• Ensure that treater electrodes and roller are clean.
• Ensure that air pressure settings are correct.
• At a minimum, deep clean Anilox rollers once a year per roller.
• Work with maintenance to troubleshoot and make minor repairs.
• Recommend press improvements as required.
• Develop and implement daily, weekly, monthly, etc. procedures and schedules for press cleaning and maintenance.
• Ensure proper ink disposal.
• Work with Team Leads, Supervisors, Managers and Maintenance as needed in order to maintain presses and improve their operation.
• Help run extrusion lines as determined by business need.
• Ensure the availability of raw materials and supplies for all print presses and advise production manager of shortages.
• May be required to visit affiliate manufacturing locations to learn potential printing improvements and operations.
• Over haul born binders mech.
• Over haul born binders electrical.
• Trained to lift an autopak.
• Repair rail car unloader equipment as needed,
• May be required to work overtime.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
