Responsibilities & Expectations:

IPS - Dallas is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to join the Power Management team. This individual will focus on supporting power distribution equipment resellers, contractors, and NETA service shops. This leadership position will support and consult Technical Sales Representatives in exceeding targets and providing an unmatched customer experience. This position generates revenue by soliciting and obtaining orders, understanding, and interpreting technical requirements, providing technical information, and developing accounts.

  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue growth across established and emerging service lines, including switchgear assembly and customized solutions. Identify new business opportunities and manage the sales pipeline to support IPS's long-term growth goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coach a team of technical sales professionals, empowering them to achieve their sales targets while fostering future leadership growth within IPS.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing technical solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the products or services being sold and translate that knowledge for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Sales Process Management: Manage the entire sales process, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for clients.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams, such as product development, engineering, and marketing, to align sales efforts with overall company objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Continuously analyze market trends, competitor activity, and new technologies to inform IPS's sales strategies. Proactively identify opportunities to influence market direction and establish IPS as a market leader.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on sales performance, market trends, and other relevant metrics.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate contracts and terms with clients, ensuring favorable outcomes for the company while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs for the sales team and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities to improve their technical and sales skills.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Associate's degree preferred, focus on electrical power, or similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production or NAVY Seabee) preferred
  • Must have 5+ years of direct experience in power distribution, switchgear, and related equipment sales.
  • Working knowledge of power systems, power circuit breakers and other switchgear apparatus preferred
  • Prefer experience reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Must have general PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; experience with a CRM, NetSuite a plus
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours required to respond to client emergencies
