Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations is responsible for the oversight of athletic facilities and event operations; to include the management of home athletic competitions and external facility rentals. |
Essential Functions |
- Ensures the successful event management and operations of home athletics events, as well as the maintenance of all athletics facilities.
- Acts as staff liaison with University Support Services to initiate and maintain athletic facilities long-term maintenance planning.
- Manages the planning, administration and implementation of non-athletic events within athletic facilities.
- Chairs Athletics Event Management Committee and participates in campus event and facilities planning meetings.
- Serves as tournament manager for intercollegiate tournaments hosted by Pacific.
- Supervises Athletic Facilities and Operations staff including student workers.
- Acts as staff liaison for athletics and facility lease events.
- Supervises overall maintenance of athletics owned vehicles and utility carts.
- Complies with all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.
- Assists with special projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree in sports management, recreation, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in intercollegiate athletics.

- Advanced knowledge of facility development and operations; and event and game operations.
- Working knowledge of NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of estimates and proposals; budgets and forecasting; and management practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload under pressure of competing assignments and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Duties require frequent standing, bending, and stooping. Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling of heavy items, some in excess of 50 pounds. Occasional climbing/working at the height of a ladder.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed both indoor and outdoor facilities. Work performed during standard business hours. Work during evenings and weekends will also be required, primarily during the academic year.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
