Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to join our dedicated clinical team. This is a Monday-Friday position with no weekends or major holidays, offering a strong work-life balance.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine phlebotomy procedures according to established procedures and policies.
  • Follow assigned schedule and work procedures.
  • Collect, receive, identify, and label specimens following quality assurance and safety policies.
  • Collect specimens for off-site testing and research.
  • Perform port draws and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures as needed.
  • Perform Glucometer testing and accurately record patient results and QC each day of use.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple work needs/duties.
  • Clean and maintain work areas.
  • Monitor supply inventory.
  • Work additional hours as requested.
  • Communicate effectively with office staff, patients, physicians, and external contacts.
  • Travel to outside clinics as needed or requested.
  • Perform all other duties as requested or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • One year of phlebotomy experience
  • ASCP or other approved professional association certification preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Skilled in both straight sticks and butterfly draws
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport with patients in a clinical setting
  • Previous hospital or oncology experience is a plus

Requires corrected vision, color perception and hearing to normal range. Requires legible handwriting.
