Salary: $87,100 - $168,100; per year, Depends on Experience

 

Essential Duties:

AI and Machine Learning Leadership

  • Develop secure and scalable AI platforms that support generative AI applications, embeddings, and dynamic search functionalities.
  • Lead a team of AI engineers in developing and implementing LLM models, integrating the latest advancements in AI.
  • Architect vector database solutions to enable efficient search and retrieval of AI driven knowledge repositories.
  • Explore and implement multi modal AI capabilities to enhance accessibility and interaction across platforms.

 

Platform & Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design and optimize AWS-based AI infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness and automated deployments via Terraform
  • Develop and maintain APIs that provide secure access to major LLM models with an intuitive front-end powered by ReactJS.
  • Implement serverless architectures and containerized deployments to streamline development and deployment cycles.
  • Oversee ETL workflows to process, tag, and structure large-scale AI datasets.

 

Team & Strategy Leadership

  • Act as a mentor and coach, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Drive technical roadmaps and sprint execution, ensuring alignment with AI acceleration goals.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to identify new AI opportunities and integrate AI-driven solutions across educational and research domains.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging AI trends, from autonomous agents to generative AI applications.
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance.
  • Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Team player who is able to collaborate and effectively communicate with team members and showcase qualities of servant leadership.
  • Proven experience and ability to lead engineering teams, foster innovation, and drive AI adoption across organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML development with a strong background in deep learning, LLM fine-tuning, and vector databases.
  • 5+ years of experience in AWS cloud services, including SageMaker, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFront, and S3.
  • Expertise in Python, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Node.js, React.js, and Next.js.
  • Experience in building and deploying AI powered applications with seamless cloud integrations and experience in writing and maintaining infrastructure via Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of embeddings, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and scalable AI architectures particularly on AWS.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to translate AI capabilities into strategic value.
  • Experience with Enterprise Education systems such as Canvas, Salesforce and Service Now
  • Familiarity with multi-modal AI applications and autonomous Agentic AI architectures.
  • Experience in building AI powered recommendation systems, search engines, or interactive AI assistants.
  • Background in AI ethics, governance, and responsible AI development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.
  • Experience in a values-driven organization with a strong commitment to inclusion and belonging.
  • Ability to cultivate a psychologically safe environment where all team members can thrive.
  • Capacity to inspire and drive meaningful change in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to support a more sustainable environment.

Working Environment:

  • Full-Time Position with 3 days required in the office and 2 days flexible.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
