Inside the Role

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is seeking a highly motivated engineer to drive the integration of advanced electrical systems and high voltage safety protocols at our Innovation Plant. This role blends, controls expertise, and HV leadership to support electric vehicle (EV) production readiness. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with design, automation, facilities, and production teams to deliver innovative, future-proof manufacturing solutions.

Position offers a starting salary range of$117,000 - $150,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

Controls & Automation

  • Implement and support PLC, HMI, SCADA and device-level controls.

  • Design and support servo and variable frequency drive systems.

  • Apply controls technologies to new/existing processes for optimal solutions and seamless interface with higher-level systems.

  • Specify and manage control designs for new equipment, providing clear documentation and technical support across operations.

  • Maintain transparency through organized documentation and clear project status updates using LEAN and other project management tools.

High voltage safety responsibilities

  • Highest level of authority for site HV (high voltage) decisions

  • Coordinate training, and provide technical advice to technicians/operators performing HV work

  • Develop and ensure adherence to HV safety standards in commissioning area and production line processes, including audits and inspections

  • Work in conjunction with HV safety board to implement HV production procedures (SWI)

  • Develops site specific HV safety procedures for location in conjunction with HV safety board Communicates relevant information from the HV safety board to site members

  • Integrate high voltage production process to existing lines

  • Direct production staff as it pertains to quality and testing. Assist with hiring as needed.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, 5+ or more years of related experience in a production environment

  • Must have strong project management experience and ability to convey requirements to other organizations through verbal interaction and presentations

  • Proven technical and analytical capability, and good mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to pass applicable Daimler High Voltage Certifications

  • Proven ability to adhere to and ensure safety standards.

  • Strong customer focus required

  • Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated required.

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements required.

  • Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change required.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Expertise in Rockwell PLCs, Rockwell FactoryTalk, and Ignition SCADA development.

  • Familiarity with OPC servers and programming languages such as SQL and Python.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing technical documentation.

  • Electric vehicle production/design experience preferred.
