Position Overview

The Director of Employee Success will report directly to the Senior Director for HR Operations and will be responsible for strategically leveraging learning and development opportunities to identify and enhance key factors contributing to employee success across the university. This role will lead initiatives to improve the employee experience from onboarding through leadership development, with a direct impact on our rising leaders. This is an on-campus position with occasional travel required.

Key Responsibilities



  • Strategic Program Development: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive learning and development strategies that align with the university's goals and enhance employee success.
  • Onboarding Redesign: Lead the complete redesign of the new employee onboarding experience, ensuring a seamless, engaging, and informative transition for all new hires.
  • Leadership Mentoring Program: Develop, launch, and manage a robust leadership mentoring program specifically tailored for new leaders on the rise, fostering their growth and preparing them for future leadership roles within the university.
  • Success Factor Identification: Utilize data and analytics to identify key factors and trends contributing to employee success, retention, and engagement.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Partner closely with various departments and stakeholders across the university to ensure programs meet diverse needs and contribute to overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Program Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of employee success initiatives, making data-driven adjustments to optimize impact.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Organizational Development, Education, or related field.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Three years of supervisory/management experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Certifications in HR (e.g., SHRM-SCP, HRCI SPHR) or Learning & Development (e.g., CPTD).
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Learning & Development, or Organizational Effectiveness, with at least 3 years in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing successful learning and development programs, including leadership development and onboarding initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex organizational environment.
