Computer Support Technician

Job Purpose:

The Computer Support Technician provides critical IT and network systems support to meet the information management needs for our client. Responsibilities include IT systems and network administration, customer support, information systems security, and litigation technology support. Work is performed under the guidance of the IT Systems Manager and IT Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance for desktop, laptop, and networked systems used for voice, data, and video transmission.
  • Perform testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and maintenance of IT systems to ensure availability, functionality, and efficiency.
  • Support the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of networks, systems, and data by maintaining and enhancing IT security tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver customer support services such as troubleshooting, user training, inventory management, and technical issue resolution.
  • Assist in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of secure, networked environments including hardware and software updates.
  • Maintain Microsoft SQL Server, local area networks, litigation support systems, and web-based applications.
  • Perform technical maintenance for the office intranet and internet platforms, including content updates and link repairs.
  • Support litigation support and case management systems, assisting in planning and coordination activities.
  • Optimize system performance using tuning tools, performance measurement, and system interoperability practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues, ensuring minimal service interruption.
  • Assist in maintaining and tracking IT equipment inventory.


Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient in systems/network administration and the integration of information systems
  • Knowledge of systems testing, performance tuning, and optimization techniques
  • Understanding of operating systems, server interoperability, and upgrade practices
  • Experience applying IT security principles, policies, and recovery protocols
  • Familiarity with database management systems and web-based infrastructure support
  • Ability to troubleshoot, recover, and improve complex systems for continuous availability
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under general supervision


Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in IT support, network/systems administration, or a similar role
  • Experience working in a federal, legal, or litigation support environment is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, LANs, and litigation case management systems a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, IT professionals, and external partners
