Job Summary

The Chemical Engineer will provide chemical process engineering capability to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable chemical engineering capability as it applies to materials, processes, and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

* Manage chemical concentrations in a number of industrial processes.
* Optimize chemical procedures and processes for handling multiple material platforms such as Titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, and Inconel steel alloys.
* Work with a cross functional team to control and optomize chemical processes including but not limited to chemical sampling and recharge procedures, waste management, chemical hadling and storage, and chemical laborotory testing.
* Manage and support a DI water filtration station including purity testing and volume management.
* Develop and execute chemical bench testing and transfer knowledge of laboratory results to industrial scale clean lines.
* Set up and oversee the day to day operation of a chemical laboratory staffed by a chemical technician.
* Procure and maintain laboratory equipment to support the periodical testing required to support production.
* Safely and responsibly manange handling of hazardous acids such as Hydroflouric acid and Nitric acid on an industrial scale as well as in a laboratory setting.
* Coordinate and influence a team of laboratory technicians, maintenance, and operations personelle to establish standard work practices to optimize and normalize cleanline procedures,
* Work with the laboratory personelle to document these standard work procedures and train operations personelle.
* Set up procurement schedules with purchasing to maintain uninterrupted operations.
* Work closely with and mentor laboratory technicians to grow the overall skills of the team.
* Maintain and optimize the chemical levels in automated vibratory and centrifuge lines to maintain optimal operation.
* Submit deviations that are process specific and catch inconsistencies between manuals across different repairs. Standardize processes across product types to simplify the process and flow.
* Consistently look for ways to improve the uptime of equipment and present suggestions to the operation and maintenance team, such as set-up time changes and fixture modifications.
* Walk non-conforming processes to determine flaws. Correct and provide accurate and up-to-date documentation describing the problem and solution in a timely manner.
* Address complex problems through innovative solutions. Implement production planning from original concept through to production, designing processes to a high level of process capability using the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite. Oversee product development, first article development, configuration changes, and build process definition and implementation.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience or 7+ Years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
* Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development
* GKN experience and/or Aerospace Industry experience
* Experience in an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) organization is strongly preferred
* Increasingly able to provide technical input at all levels of work
* Identifies and anticipates technical problems and offers solutions
* Drives to complete the job on time and continually searches for better ways of doing things
* Understands situations by analyzing them logically and uses information in a systematic way to identify appropriate courses of action for resolution. Ability to apply complex and non-routine analysis
* Applies knowledge and skills to a range of activities
* Understands the formal and informal structure of the business
* Works well in driving cross-functional teams to accomplish long term process improvmements

Compensation Range

The compensation range for this position is between $101,580- $112,866.
