Fire Apparatus Operator/EMT IMMEDIATELY HIRING! FIRE APPARATUS OPERATORS/EMTs FULL-TIME Opportunity (Salary Range $71,552 - $76,544 annually) We are hiring Fire Apparatus Operator/EMTs with a passion for firefighting and public service with the drive to succeed and deliver high-quality care. Job Summary: Fire Apparatus Operator/EMTs, under direct supervision, trains for and participates in duties and related responsibilities of an emergency and/or hazardous nature in fire suppression, emergency operations, responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls to protect life and property; drives, operates and maintains fire apparatus and equipment. Although firefighting and rescue work are the most difficult and responsible areas of activity, the major portion of time is spent drilling and studying methods, techniques, and organization, and in routine duties in the care and maintenance of customer property and equipment. This is considered a safety sensitive position and is subject to both the Company's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing. MinimumRequired Qualifications: * 21 years old * Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate and must successfully pass the background investigation, pre-employment drug screening and pre-employment physical for firefighters * At least 3 years fire service experience * Valid State or National EMT certification * Valid State of Idaho Class B driver's license with clean driving record. * NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1- State, IFSAC, ProBoard or equivalent * NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2- State, IFSAC, ProBoard or equivalent (highly desirable) * NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations- State, ProBoard, IFSAC or equivalent * NFPA 1006 Confined Space Rescue Technician (highly desirable) * NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician (highly desirable) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Administration Task: * Prepares timely and accurate reports and maintains company files in an up-to-date status, as required. Reports include but not limited to, Daily Unit logs (214), Activity Reports, PCRs, Accident reports, Reimbursement reports, and electronic mail. * Monitors/prepares the work and training schedule and communicates with team members in preparation for the assignment. * Stays abreast of all company communication including but not limited to emails, newsletters, memos, meetings, videos. * Maintains confidentiality with employees, customer and contractual information. * Maintains the company reputation through positive direct contact with customers, agencies, vendors, subcontractors and the public. * Abides by and reinforces the Company's objectives, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mission, guiding principles, and advocates for them. * Attends meetings, participates in conference calls and reads and understands all company communications including policies procedures. Supervision and Team Development: * May supervise a team in the performance of the technical aspects of their work and may take charge of complex and difficult tasks, as appropriate. May determine work procedures based on contractual scope of work, may assign work to personnel, and monitors the work performance of their team. * Keeps superiors adequately informed of significant matters which affect their work, attitudes, and morale. Advises and consults with their immediate supervisor on a regular and ongoing basis. * Assures the performance of their team in accordance with the objectives and priorities established by the Company/Client's Rules and Regulations, Mission, Vision, and guiding principles. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities: * Respond to fire alarms and other emergency calls by driving assigned automotive equipment or fire apparatus to the required location. * Drive, operate and maintain various types of firefighting and suppression apparatus and equipment, including but not limited to pumping and ladder equipment and ground monitors. * Train personnel in the operation and maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment. * Quickly follow established Company procedures when responding to emergencies as well as instructions given at the emergency scene. * Correctly and promptly use all relevant apparatus, tools, and equipment. * Remain calm and poised in all emergency situations and gain rapid control over the problem at hand. * Administer emergency care to injured parties at their appropriate level of training. * Quickly analyze situations where life safety is threatened and apply the correct treatment. * Safely operate Company vehicles, and equipment as directed. * Assist in the maintenance of fire and rescue apparatus, tools, and equipment keeping such apparatus, tools, and equipment in good operating and safe condition by competently and efficiently performing maintenance and testing tasks. * Keep the company base and related grounds, facilities, and supplies in a clean, orderly and usable condition. * Perform routine non-firefighting work tasks, such as working on Company records, timecards and other related paperwork. * Functions satisfactorily as a team member of a fire company at any emergency or non-emergency scene and willingly accepts their share of the work required. * Able to meet the physical requirements required to perform firefighting tasks. * Remain skilled in and properly apply modern fire suppression tactics, methods, and procedures at training drills and emergency Incidents. * Project a positive attitude and image to the client as a fire service professional to meet the client's needs. * Work effectively in following policies and procedures. Ability to: * Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others when required. * Enter data or information into a terminal, PC or other keyboard device such as the Computer Aided Dispatch system. * Train and instruct employees in modern firefighting principles, practices, and procedures. * Work cooperatively with other employees and the public. * Work in confined spaces such as attic crawl spaces. * Travel across wet, slippery, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. * Work at heights greater than ten feet. * Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet). * Observe or monitor people's behavior to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards, or to assess patient condition. * Communicate orally with customers, clients or the public in face-to-face one-on-one settings * Understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language. * Perceive red, yellow, and blue colors to recognize hazards identified by fire diamonds. * Tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing job duties. * Work for long periods of time, requiring sustained physical activity and intense concentration. * Rely on sense of sight, hearing, touch, and smell to help determine the nature of an emergency and make operational decisions. Physical Demands: * The employee will be exposed to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud, from open areas to very cramped confined spaces. * The employee may be required to work at heights above ground and/or confined spaces. * The employee will be expected to perform arduous physical activity and engage in structural, wildland and vehicle firefighting, respond to and provide initial mitigation and stabilization of Haz Materials releases, extrication for vehicle accidents, confined space rescue, high/low angle rope rescue, etc. * The work environment will subject the employee to heavy traffic conditions both in responding to emergency calls and when attempting extrications at emergency scenes. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: * 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty. Employer may change this at any time * Travel may be required for training or operational purposes.
