The Principal Financial Analyst - R&D is a strategic role that will build a Finance business partnership with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality teams. This individual will partner with a global team to develop financial models to drive improved profitability and support new investment activities. The Principal Analyst role leads the budgeting and forecasting process for R&D and Capital to ensure accuracy and key deliverables and objectives are met, as well as monthly close reporting package and variance analyses. This role will be based in our Eden Prairie, MN headquarters, and will report directly to the Sr Manager FP&A.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Finance business partnership with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality leadership to develop a strategy supporting profitable growth
  • Support R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality leadership for all business reviews
  • Develop financial models for supporting business decisions and investment strategy
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, financial procedures, and GAAP
  • Oversight of cost controlling activities related to R&D, Regulatory, Quality and Capital
  • Partner with Function leadership for return on investment assessments
  • Consolidate and analyze R&D costs across global units, including US and Switzerland
  • Ownership of R&D Controlling model
  • Lead planning sessions for R&D and Capital in alignment with the Medical Technology Unit consolidation, including the annual budget and periodic forecasts
  • Lead the 5-Year strategic planning financials related R&D and Capital
  • Prepare monthly close, analysis and reporting for actual financial results
  • Analyze and explain key variances to support decision making
  • Contribute to the overall Medical Technology Unit reporting package

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Minimum

  • BA/BS degree with major in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Experienced finance professional with 10+ years of experience working in a similar role for a global product-based company, ideally with experience supporting an R&D organization
  • Experience building relationships with international partners, spanning multiple geographies and time zones
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, and analyzing and reporting financial data
  • Business planning and forecasting
  • Demonstrated ability to apply financial analysis and modeling to solve business challenges
  • Ability to go beyond the numbers, consider broad business implications helping senior management and business partners identify opportunities to improve business performance
  • Strong computer application skills including MS Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Teams)
  • Strong understanding of database and information flows to develop reports and manipulate downloaded data
  • SAP/ERP, Business Intelligence, Business Warehouse, and planning tool software experience (HFM / Hyperion, SmartView, BW Reporting)
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to author and deliver presentations
  • Ability to work in an international environment, intercultural communication and time flexibility
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and business partners while influencing organizational decisions
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills; multi-task while effectively prioritizing and applying sound judgment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, detail-oriented and thorough
  • Exceptional time-management skills to meet project deadlines

Preferred:

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated business, Medical Device background a plus
Compensation & Total Rewards:

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $130,000.00 - 143,000.00

*Estimated Starting Salary Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position. The range provided is based on salary and market data specific to the position.
