WGL - Sr New Business Project Management Specialist The Project Manager is responsible for managing natural gas construction projects to accomplish stated Company objectives. Individual will use project management expertise to ensure projects remain within scope, budget, and schedule. Effectively influences and manages direction and implementation of projects safely and focused on accomplishing organizational objectives. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the full life cycle of each project.
You Will: * Acts as the primary liaison between Sales Department, Construction Department and Customers on large scale or complex New Business jobs. * Supports Sales on customer inquiries for smaller, more typical jobs for operational questions or concerns. * Supports resource and cost forecasting efforts by maintaining current progress metrics and systems. * Drives execution against customer timelines. Coordinates cross functionally to drive gas delivery. * Leads/develops project teams (internal and contract personnel) in conjunction with other internal processes. Influences individuals to accomplish objectives without direct reporting relationships. * Effectively manages and reports in a timely manner changes in customer expectations, scope, company risk, schedule, and project budgets. * Proactively assesses project design for construction feasibility concerns. * Assesses variances from project design estimates and coordinates with estimate owners to narrow gaps. * Ensures the project teams provide the appropriate final project documentation and assists with documentation as needed * Prepares and manages project schedules, incorporating and analyzing input from the project team, including permitting, design, land acquisition, gas control, operations, material acquisition, contractual obligations, etc. Manages critical path issues to successful project completion and removes barriers on the critical path. * Ability to accurately forecast and effectively recommend allocation of both company and contractor resources. Assists with balancing level of resources required with completion of projects. Utilizes strong negotiation skills. * Responsible person for assuring effective communication regarding project progress. * Manages, coordinates, and monitors work progress of key stakeholders and team resources. Recommends schedules/workloads/resource requirements as needed to accomplish objectives while meeting overriding company requirements (such as pipe complete and project closeout). * Facilitates any customer or company meetings needed to deliver on customer commitment. * Complies with all regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Assures appropriate documents have been secured and retained in a timely fashion to manage company risk. * Represents the Company at external functions relating to projects.
You Have: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management or other technical field is preferred. * 5+ Years experience with demonstrated project management of infrastructure construction projects of varying sizes and types; must have demonstrated ability to serve as an effective leader required * Experience in the natural gas industry is preferred * PMP or Business Process certification is preferred * Demonstrated ability to track and meet schedules and milestones on natural gas or equivalent construction projects. * Excellent analytical and communication (written, verbal, presentation and electronic) skills; able to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively, often times communicating changes, complex issues and new ideas. * Ability to work well with all levels of Company and contract personnel to facilitate the accomplishment of project work. Must be able to process information and make decisions. * requireduires the ability to read and understand technical documents including legal contracts and information on new management concepts and new technology. Must be able to read and understand civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings and schematics. * Working knowledge of industry specific applicable codes, procedures, policies, and regulations preferred. * Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere. * Able to recognize and evaluate risks, hazards, losses and prevent conflicts between activities. * Applicable gas industry experience, preferred (working knowledge of applicable codes, procedures, policies, federal regulatory knowledge, state regulatory knowledge, and natural gas market knowledge). We offer a competitive salary range of $94,000 to $136,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
