This is the entry level position in the Dispatcher progression. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the assignment of work to ensure that Company and customer generated work orders, including emergency orders involving reports of gas leaks, odors of gas, damaged gas lines, fires, explosions, etc. are dispatched to appropriate field employees in a timely and accurate manner to meet company, as well as state utility commission and federal requirements. Note: Internally this role is referred to as Gas Distribution Dispatcher I.

What You Will Do:

  • Respond to and processes emergency requests and orders.

  • Receive and relay messages between customers, field personnel and internal departments.

  • Prepare and maintain daily work load distribution.

  • Dispatch service orders by priority, date, and time wanted.

  • Process and maintain accurate reports and logs

  • Maintain accurate on-call personnel files

  • Answer emergency calls, create emergency orders, and dispatch emergency work to field personnel.

  • Manage notifications of escalated incidents to management and operations personnel.

  • Dispatcher is expected to work with field supervisors for assigned area to monitor scheduled work, make work assignments, assess and schedule field employee overtime, and reassigns work as necessary to balance the workload and complete all scheduled work

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED with 0-2 years of directly related experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to handle emergencies and respond to stressful situations.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Hear and respond to telephone and radio requests and inquiries.

  • Contribute to positive work environment.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outline below.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2 or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below.

Working Conditions:

This role is coverage for our business 24/7 for emergency calls and customer needs. There will also be overtime required at times. Flexibility will be required to work during days, nights, weekends, holidays and an on-call schedule.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to work in tight spaces.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
