We are looking for a new Associate Category Manager for CMO's to create and execute regional strategies for cost savings, as well as secure supply and drive Decarbonization and sustainability initiatives. You will also have a vital interface with Global Category Managers, participating and executing on complex multi-regional projects.

In Direct Procurement we do that by optimization of cost and quality, risk mitigation and value creation,striving for sustainable sourcing, agility, and speed in close collaboration with, suppliers and customers.Direct Procurement is responsible for all sourcing and procurement of all materials for production (raw materials, packaging & utilities). We have colleagues located at Novonesis key production sites in all regions of the world including Europe, Asia Pacific, North Americas, and South Americas.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

  • Participating in the global category teamwork sharing category knowledge, analytics and portfolio pipeline planning.

  • Working in partnership with our CMO Management group

  • Creating and executing on regional CMO cost savings initiatives and supply risk mitigations

  • Participating in the development of the global category strategy via extensive market and business knowledge, conducting internal and external analysis, and development strategic scenario, analysis of sourcing levers and Business case development.

  • Driving Scope 3 decarbonization initiatives in close collaboration with suppliers and Category Managers.

  • Translating decarbonization ambitions into practical action plans, and following up to secure measurable progress at supplier level.

  • Strategic Sourcing & Execution: Leads regional implementation of global category strategies and manages complex sourcing projects (e.g., tenders, renegotiations, raw material substitutions) with autonomy, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contracting.

  • Portfolio & Risk Management: Oversees procurement pipeline planning and prioritization, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and proactively manages supply, commercial, and sustainability risks with mitigation strategies.

  • Supplier & Contract Management: Manages supplier relationships and performance, drives innovation initiatives, and handles full contract lifecycle including pricing, extensions, and compliance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners with internal teams (e.g., R&D, Planning, Operations, Sustainability) and global stakeholders to align forecasts, support new product development, and contribute to responsible sourcing goals.

To succeed you potentially possess:

  • Experience with CMO's/ CMO management, including supplier selection, management and tendering process with minimum of 3 years of strategic procurement experience, preferably within the CMO space, combined with relevant education at master level within for example Biotech, Economy or the like

  • Have experience and deep understanding of the dynamics of Contract Manufacturing & Outsourcing markets as well as with commodity monitoring

  • Have a strategic and holistic mindset, combined with a solution oriented "can do" attitude

  • Be an experienced communicator able to convey your message to colleagues at all organizational levels, both through in person communication and virtually

  • Have strong portfolio- and project management skills

  • Ability to solve complex problems and connect across stakeholder groups to resolve issues.

  • Have strong horizontal and lateral stakeholder management proficiencies

  • Demonstratable interpersonal skills and strong relationship builder

  • Show a strong business acumen and be used to complex contract negotiations

  • Possess strong collaborative and communicative skills

  • Familiarity with Scope 3 emissions, value chain collaboration, and decarbonization levers such as renewable energy, material substitution, and process optimization.

  • A structured and persistent mindset-comfortable following through from concept to execution.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across internal functions and external suppliers.

  • A global outlook and motivation to drive change in a complex and evolving procurement environment.

  • Holds a minimum of a Bachelor's degree-preferably in Supply Chain, Procurement, International Business, Economics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Engineering-combined with 3-5 years of strategic procurement experience.

Location: Franklinton, NC or Blair, NE, or West Allis, WI (Hybrid)

Expected salary range:$71,000 - $95,000
