We have an exciting opportunity for an Orion Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) Subsystem Manager to join the team

What You'll Do:

As the ECLSS Subsystem Manager for the Orion Program, you will lead key aspects of crew safety and comfort on missions beyond Earth orbit. Under the direction of the NASA ECLSS System Manager, you will:

  • Provide full lifecycle oversight for one or more subsystems, including:

    • Air Revitalization Subsystem (ARS)

    • Pressure Control Subsystem (PCS)

    • Potable Water Supply (PWS)

    • Crew Waste Management

  • Review and approve system architectures, hardware requirements, design packages, assembly procedures, and test plans.

  • Certify ECLSS hardware for initial flight and reflight.

  • Analyze engineering drawings and technical documentation to evaluate designs and resolve issues.

  • Recommend materials and process solutions to meet mission and flight hardware standards.

  • Investigate hardware anomalies and propose corrective actions.

  • Support real-time operations, including launch and flight activities from the Mission Evaluation Room (MER).

  • Coordinate across engineering teams, hardware providers, and sustaining organizations.

  • Communicate effectively with NASA stakeholders including the Orion Program, JSC Engineering, Vehicle Office, and Kennedy Space Center.

  • Represent ECLSS at program boards, technical forums, and design reviews.

  • Travel occasionally to support hardware reviews, testing, or launch operations.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the ECLSS System Manager.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related discipline).

  • Typically 5-10 years of relevant experience in aerospace systems.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, fluid, and pressure-based systems.

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Orion ECLSS hardware and operations.

  • Experience supporting space vehicle flight operations and technical documentation.

  • Understanding of hardware certification and flight qualification processes.

  • Previous subsystem or system management experience in aerospace or defense programs.

  • Ability to coordinate across multiple organizations and technical disciplines.

  • Familiarity with NASA program boards and experience presenting at technical forums.
