About the Role

As an Actuary I, you'll initiate, organize, direct, and analyze actuarial research and projects. In this specific role you'll work across teams, deliver high profile financial results and analysis, work with Actuarial models and lead process improvements. May supervise analysts and actuarial students.

What you will do



  • Serve as a key contributor to our European Embedded Value (EV) framework, including Value of New Business (VNB) review, monitoring, and delivery.
  • Support model review and the consolidation of cash flow testing and EV results across life and annuity blocks.
  • Act as a liaison to external auditors and Sumitomo Life, communicating complex financial results with clarity and professionalism.
  • Support critical year-end activities, including Blue Book reporting and regulatory memos.
  • Champion modernization efforts by simplifying and automating workbooks and streamlining processes.
  • Collaborate across the Actuarial department, including with the Product Lines, Bermuda, Asset Management, ERM and Tax.
  • Support strategic analysis with senior leadership that taps into enterprise-wide results.
  • Mentor and support junior actuarial talent; review their work and help develop their technical and professional skills.

Compensation

Salary Range:$103,300 - $172,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs

Who you are



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background including college level mathematics.
  • ASA designation required; progressing toward or attained FSA preferred (7-8 actuarial exams).
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience with life or annuity insurance products.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial modeling and financial reporting concepts.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex results independently, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior leaders, external auditors, and global partners.
  • Experienced in cross-department collaboration and communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Passionate about process improvement and automation.
  • Committed to professional development and mentoring others.
  • Highly skilled in the use of spreadsheets and actuarial modeling software. Experience with MG-ALFA.
  • Proficiency in SQL/Snowflake or Python is a plus.
  • High school diploma required.
