Key Responsibilities
  • Provides support, assistance, and supervision to meet the needs and goals of the individuals according to their plans.
  • Ensures that everyone's training, behavior and support programs are being implemented and documented in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assists individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social and community activities based on their preferences and individual plans.
  • Ensures that the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals are always protected.
  • Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual's rights.
  • Provides a positive, reinforcing environment that promotes independence and choice.
  • Provides the necessary level of assistance for appropriate diet, texture, and equipment.
  • Ensures building, outside areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized.
  • Assists and encourages individuals to care for immediate personal needs such as toileting, washing their hands, and eating.
  • Assists individuals when entering and exiting vehicles while on community outings, as well as entering and exiting the building safely.
  • Follows positioning schedules, uses the proper equipment and assistive devices per plan. Occasionally called upon to complete a 2 person lift to reposition, assist with sit to stand pivot and/or assist with toileting needs up to 60lbs.
  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience.
  • One (1) year of experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Licenses or Certifications
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
  • CDL C driver's license required within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
  • CPR certification required within ninety (90) days of hire or promotion.
