Job Summary

This is a temporary, part-time position within the Denver Day Works (DDW) program, which provides low barrier, supported employment opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness. Grounds Crew Members will assist with maintenance and stewardship duties while receiving support to pursue long-term housing and employment goals.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Pick up and properly dispose of litter and debris from designated park areas.

  • Sweep sidewalks and paved surfaces using broom and dustpan.

  • Maintain flower and plant beds, including weeding and general upkeep.

  • Assist with power washing surfaces as directed by Parks staff.

  • Engage respectfully with park visitors and provide information about the program.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Wear provided identification clothing and follow all safety procedures.

  • Use tools and equipment responsibly, returning them in good condition.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • Ability to perform manual labor and outdoor maintenance tasks required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.

  • Ability to engage with members of the public.

  • Interest in personal development and future employment opportunities.

  • Service Source will provide safety training and orientation.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with the Field Lead, team members, and park visitors.

  • Basic ability to tell time and understand shift durations.

  • No advanced math skills are required.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.

  • Ability to identify when to seek help from a supervisor in unexpected or unclear situations.

  • Able to work outside in Colorado weather during all seasons

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.

  • Must be comfortable performing physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While in the ServiceSource office setting, the work environment is usually quiet. While visiting employer worksites in the community, noise level and weather/temperature conditions may vary.
