Join American Commercial Barge Line as the Head of Supply Chain and Procurement and lead enterprise-wide sourcing, procurement, and supply chain strategies that support one of the most respected names in the maritime transportation industry. In this leadership role, you will oversee a Purchasing Manager and work closely with buyers and operations leadership to ensure timely, cost-effective, and strategic procurement of materials and services. You'll play a key role in cost reduction, continuous improvement, and the development of streamlined policies and procedures that enhance ACBL's operational efficiency.

This role is based at our Jeffersonville, IN headquarters and is ideal for a seasoned supply chain leader with transportation or maritime industry expertise.

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT




  • Lead all aspects of supply chain and procurement strategy, execution, and optimization across the organization



  • Oversee the Purchasing Manager and provide dotted-line leadership to the buyer team



  • Build, maintain, and strengthen supplier relationships to ensure value, quality, and performance



  • Collaborate with internal teams-operations, maintenance, logistics, and finance-to align purchasing needs with operational goals



  • Negotiate and manage high-value contracts with a focus on long-term savings and reliability



  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, vendor evaluation, and policy development



  • Support inventory and logistics strategies to minimize delays and maximize efficiency



  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards in all procurement activities



  • Lead the development of procurement policies, procedures, and reporting tools



  • Partner with leadership to implement strategic cost-control and risk mitigation initiatives






    What we are looking for:

    What you need to have:



    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain or procurement, preferably in the transportation or maritime industry
    • Proven leadership experience managing procurement professionals and cross-functional teams
    • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels




      Even better if you have:




      • Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).



      • Experience working in the inland marine industry or with marine equipment vendors.



      • Familiarity with inventory and logistics systems.
