The Assistant Director of Alumni and Family Relations is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive alumni relations program designed to engage Thomas college alumni, friends and family after graduation. Additionally, the Assistant Director will create a comprehensive program for engagement opportunities targeted for current students and their families, laying the groundwork for a lifelong relationship in support of their alma mater. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that our alumni, parents and students, no matter where they live or who they are, feel pride in Thomas College. This individual supports and drives volunteer activities to ensure alumni engagement, success, and satisfaction. They work closely with the Advancement team and other key colleagues in the Professional and Career Development (PCD) and Graduate divisions to identify and strategically recruit alumni volunteers, coordinate programming and activities, and market and promote attendance at events throughout the year, including Homecoming & Family Weekend. In addition, this position works closely with the Marketing and Communications department to inform and engage all alumni audiences through the coordination and production of print and online materials including the Thomas Magazine and Annual Report, and Terrier Tracks newsletter. The Assistant Director of Alumni and Family Relations will promote the college's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statement where applicable. Additionally, the Assistant Director must be sincerely passionate about the mission and vision of Thomas College and willing to be an active and positive member of our special community. The qualified candidate must have excellent interpersonal, relationship building, writing, and communication skills; proven ability to support alumni or volunteers with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction; ability to participate and lead in a team environment; strong project-management and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented and deadline driven; able to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality a must. Bachelor's degree and prior experience in Alumni Relations work, including planning, coordination and execution of membership engagement and/or volunteer management initiatives. Prior experience in event planning and implementation, marketing, and communications experience preferred. Database experience preferred and efficiency with Microsoft Office products required. Some travel, nights and weekends required. Valid driver's license and successful driver's license background check required.
