Job Description
Join our Minneapolis, Minnesota test lab team as a Machinist, supporting new product development of Danfoss Power Solutions products. In this full-time role, you'll collaborate with engineers on prototyping and machining tasks and work closely with test technicians to enable hydraulic component and system testing. This is a full time, on-site position with opportunities to support both daily lab operations and long-term innovation efforts.
Salary rate for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 annually, and this is a non-exempt position.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prioritize safety by following established procedures, wearing required PPE, and identifying and reporting potential hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce high-quality, precise parts that support prototyping and testing needs.
- Read and interpret programs, setup sheets, and technical drawings to define tool paths and perform accurate machining and fabrication tasks.
- Calibrate machines, arrange tooling, mount fixtures, and secure workpieces for machining operations.
- Collaborate with engineers on machining, 3D printing, and fixture fabrication to support new product development.
- Assist with general lab responsibilities, including equipment maintenance, test stand rework, cleaning, painting, and 5S initiatives.
- Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced lab environment.
Background and Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a testing, manufacturing, machining, or similar hands-on technical environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including safety procedures, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports and effectively present information to internal teams.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future corporate sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or vocational certificate in CNC Machining, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a prototyping or production environment.
- Hands-on experience with CNC mills and lathes (preferably HAAS or Hurco), Wire EDM, and precision grinding equipment (such as Okamoto surface grinders or OD grinders for spools).
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools, including gauges, callipers, micrometres, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
