Primary Function

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the productivity of the manufacturing department. The incumbent will direct plant production, development, safety and quality initiatives through management of facilities, equipment, materials, and the workforce. Focuses for short-term goals are implementing GEMBA boards to track production rates, on-time delivery, cost of sales, quality, and gross margin. Implement and maintain production process that currently exists within other NAWT facilities which includes adherence to existing work instructions. Focuses for long-term goals are the formulation, planning, and implementation of strategies to maximize production teams' capacity.

Responsibilities
  1. Manges workflow across all departments to produce quality products in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain and promote a safety conscious plant environment.
  2. Provides daily leadership to entire staff at the Pottstown, PA facility. Acts as a mentor among all team members to create a professional and driven workforce.
  3. Conduct daily start up meetings with production team. Provide review of the previous day's orders and sales, deliver daily safety messages, provide updates on current orders, and provide overall guidance to ensure the production team is aligned with NAWT.
  4. Manage overtime (hourly and salary non-exempt), vacation approvals, and production team staffing in alignment with Director of Operations.
  5. Assists in company/plant planning through department budget preparation, expenditure recommendations (capital and non-capital), and workforce forecasting.
  6. Schedule, participate, and guide key plant activities. Examples include inventory, onsite insurance audits, WQA audits, quality audits, and safety compliance audits.
  7. Learn SAP procedures to be able to back up all key plant members.
  8. Report issues regarding production, quality, maintenance, safety, or personnel issues to the Director of Operations.
  9. Develop, monitor, report, and improve production rates, capacity plans, processing methods and times.
  10. Report issues regarding customer service and tech service to appropriate off-site managers.
  11. Participate in the implementation of manufacturing tools and technology.
  12. Ensure all building and property maintenance is being performed in a timely manner.
  13. Address employee performance issues as needed in alignment with HR team and policies.
  14. Continuously improve customer satisfaction through implementing programs that provide on-time delivery and meet customer quality and cost expectations.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field, preferred
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training
  • 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Experience in manufacturing and supervision
  • Ability to prepare and interpret various metrics, and reports
  • Ability to identify problems and take appropriate corrective measures
  • Effective communication skills via written and oral
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
  • Proficient mathematical skills
  • Valid Drivers License
