Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary |
The IT Systems Analyst will assist the IT Systems Specialist in providing server systems administration for approximately 87 physical and virtual Microsoft Windows servers and
SAN storage devices for
UDO (University Development Office) located at
ITS Franklin and
ITS Manning enterprise data centers. In this role there is researching, planning, purchasing, installation, integration, and maintenance of server systems as well as SANs (storage area networks). All of the infrastructure related to our Enterprise level self-hosted Blackbaud
CRM (
DAVIE) development database, departmental file storage, PowerShell scripting(programming), SolarWinds logging System,
DPM backup system, Spotlight
SQL DB monitoring system, and various web application hosts will be maintained by this position. This work and any associated scheduled or unscheduled downtime impacts the work of
DAVIE
CRM users campus wide as well as our Central
UDO Organization (over 687 users). Also, this position will provide Active Directory Administration, IT Systems security administration, Qualys vulnerability scanning & remediation, Group Policy administration, firewall maintenance, systems documentation,
SQL Database monitoring, troubleshooting & performance tuning for over 70 MS
SQL databases, DB Index maintenance, DB security, DB server upgrading, waterfalling of
DAVIE
CRM dev/staging/production databases, MS
SQL Database backups & disaster recovery,
SQL scripting as well as designing of database structures and objects necessary to support the functional and technical objectives of the division. The position administers Microsoft
SQL databases that are in virtualized and clustered environments which requires working closely with the IT Systems Programmer Specialist which oversees all Development Office server infrastructure as well as consulting with the
UDO Applications Development Team. The IT Systems Specialist Sr. infrastructure position and this IT Systems Analyst Jr. infrastructure position report to the
UDO Director of IT Infrastructure & Technical Support. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Master's and 1-2 years' experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Previous experience with MS Hyper-V Virtual and Clustered Server technologies. MS Active Directory Administration, MS Group Policy Administration, MS Windows Server 2019, 2022 Datacenter, 2025 Datacenter & Core. MS
SQL Server 2019, 2022, MS
SQL Clustering, MS
IIS Web Server, MS
SQL Database Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance are required.
SQL Server Management Studio (
SSMS) and MS
SCCM experience. Previous experience with various
SAN and
NAS data storage systems. Strong analytical and systems troubleshooting skills in order to update and maintain this variety of systems. Issues can arise in any number of places, and it is not always clear if it is software, hardware, wiring, network hardware, vendor or customer based. This requires being able to work quickly under pressure and implement the best fix while at the same time exhibiting strong interpersonal skills with other analysts and customers. A superior customer service ethic is required as well as strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
MS
SQL Server Reporting Services (
SSRS), Dell Server Hardware, Dell
SAN Technology, NetApp
SAN Technology, PowerShell scripting, Log Event Management Tool experience (Splunk, Solarwinds), Some Windows Desktop Support, Blackbaud
CRM Sever Support, Qualys Vulnerability Scanning/remediation, Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager, MS
WSUS server,
DNS, Virtual Lan environments and general firewall knowledge as it relates to supporting datacenter infrastructure. Quest Spotlight or comparable
SQL DB monitoring system. Certification in Microsoft Windows Server Administration and
SQL Server administration desirable. Experience with cloud services (Azure) related to database management and deployment a plus. DB Index maintenance, DB security, experience with waterfalling of database environments, MS
SQL Database backup technologies, Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for
SQL Server.
SQL scripting and troubleshooting of long/non-running queries. |
