This position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or be
ABD (All-But-Dissertation) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate-level credit hours in these disciplines. Candidates must also have teaching or industry experience, demonstrated research interests, and ongoing or planned publications relevant to the field.
ABD candidates may begin at the instructor rank and salary, with the potential to advance to Assistant Professor upon completion of the Ph.D. within one year of the official start date at
UNC Pembroke.
Candidates must have expertise in Cybersecurity and at least one additional area from the following fields: system integration, object-oriented programming, operating systems, networking, digital logic, data science, or machine learning. |

Job Description |
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning
Spring
2026, with a specialization in Cybersecurity.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach a range of undergraduate courses in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Computer Science.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Conduct and publish discipline-related research.
- Seek external funding to support research and educational initiatives in Cybersecurity and related fields.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and community.
Applicants should be qualified to teach at least three of the following courses: Cybersecurity Management, AI in Cybersecurity, Database Security, Software Security, Digital Forensics, Cloud Security, Network Security, Operating Systems, and Digital Logic.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Designing course materials that align with CAE-CD and ABET accreditation requirements.
- Actively participating in learning outcomes assessment.
- Supporting and organizing activities for computer science-related student clubs.
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills in spoken, written, and visual media.
Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with education and directly related experience.
