Principal Office & Administrative Specialist

Position Summary
The Principal Office and Administrative Specialist supports the EVPP Shared Services Web Development and Design team by providing general administrative assistance and helping ensure websites comply with the Department of Justice (DOJ) accessibility requirements ahead of the April 2026 deadline. This role reports to the Web Development/Design Supervisor and contributes to the overall efficiency and organization of the web team.

This is a full-time, temporary position for six months, with the potential for extension based on workload and available funding. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is primarily remote, with one required in-office day per week. The anticipated start date is early August or as soon as possible. Local AFSCME Clerical represented position.

Duties/Responsibilities
General Administrative Assistance (95%)

  • Utilize accessibility tracking tools such as Pope Tech and Screaming Frog to audit websites.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding the accessibility status of their sites.
  • Maintain and update the accessibility tracking spreadsheet to ensure data accuracy and project transparency.
  • Create a Project Charter for each site to outline goals, scope, and responsibilities.
  • Assign specific accessibility tasks to relevant team members, ensuring clarity and accountability.
  • Draft, revise, and finalize various forms of written communication, including correspondence, announcements, reports, and other documentation.

Other Responsibilities (5%)

  • Coordinate team communications and manage related documentation and records.
  • Perform general administrative duties and provide support as needed for Web and administrative team of the broader EVPP office as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and two years of related office and administrative or event planning experience. Training/education may be substituted for some of the years of experience.
  • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google (Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Hangout) and Zoom.
  • Strong computer, database, and electronic calendaring skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, strong customer-service orientation, experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working effectively and collaboratively as part of a team and the ability to work independently with a high level of self-direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record in senior administrative support.
  • Experience in policy coordination within higher education.
  • Experience in facilitating cross-unit communication.
About the Department

EVPP Shared Services Web Development and Design Team provides Drupal web support for varied Provost Office programs and other central administrative units.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21.69 - $22.55 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment, 6 months with possibility of extension
