Position Title: Graduate Research Assistant - CLS Outreach

Department: Chicano and Latino Studies (CLS)

Position Type: TEMP/CASUAL 0001

The Department of Chicano and Latino Studies (CLS) is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Assistant to support the Programs and Outreach team. This position will play a key role in advancing the department's community engagement, digital presence, and archival efforts. The assistant will contribute to the development of a sustainable outreach infrastructure and help foster meaningful connections between the University and Latinx communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Outreach Infrastructure Development:

Design and implement an organizational framework for CLS outreach initiatives.

Support the strategic planning of outreach programs and events.

Collaborate with faculty, students, staff, and community stakeholders to strengthen University-community partnerships.

* Website and Digital Engagement:

Assist in the design and content development of the CLS Outreach section of the department website.

Ensure the site serves as a hub for resources, community engagement, and academic-public collaborations.

Create accessible and culturally relevant content to highlight CLS outreach activities and partnerships.

* Oral History and Archival Projects:

Organize and catalog oral histories and interviews conducted by CLS faculty and

Coordinate the integration of these materials into the department's website and YouTube channel in an accessible and engaging manner.

Develop workflows and best practices for digital and physical archiving.

* Administrative and Organizational Support:

Manage files, archives, and documentation both digitally and in physical formats.

Establish clear procedures and systems for storing and retrieving outreach-related materials.

Map and document workflows for ongoing and future outreach projects.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

* Lived experience and/or demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Latinx and first-generation college students.

* Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (oral and written).

* Experience with website design and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).

* Familiarity with archival practices and oral history methodologies.

* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely and efficient manner.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
