Clinical Research Coordinator II

The MGH Center for Global Health is recruiting a part-time Clinical Research Coordinator II for work in cutting edge global health equity and infectious diseases research. The candidate will work directly on a broad portfolio of projects focusing on global migration, refugee health, emerging and tropical infectious diseases, HIV, and viral hepatitis.
The ideal candidate would be highly self-directed and motivated to work on topics related to refugee health, health and human rights, and global health, with aspirations for a career path in one of these fields. For motivated candidates, the position comes with an opportunity to design, present, and be lead authors on impactful original research. This position would be 20 hours per week for at least one year.

Principal Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and communicating with a diverse research team, including international partners.
  • Cleaning and maintaining datasets; designing and undertaking biostatistical and epidemiologic analyses on datasets with supervision from faculty.
  • Preparing manuscript-quality tables, graphs, and figures for publication and presentation.
  • Conducting literature reviews, drafting manuscripts, preparing and editing grant applications, preparing and delivering presentations, and managing references.
  • Consenting research participants, administering surveys and questionnaires, and extracting data from digital health records.
  • Interfacing with institutional review boards to ensure regulatory compliance for projects and staff; ensuring security and compliance with protected data.
  • Identifying novel sources of funding and preparing detailed budgets; liaising with grant support team and coordinating the distribution of funds.


SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Proficiency in a data analytic software (e.g., R, STATA, Julia, python, or equivalent).
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Careful attention to details
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, and/ or Haitian Creole is an advantage, though not necessary.

EDUCATION:

Minimum Qualifications: Master's in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field; or Bachelor's with significant research and analytic experience.

Master's or PhD in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field is highly desired.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 1-2 years of directly related work experience, including experience in peer-reviewed published research, global health research, applied epidemiology, and large databases (e.g., NHANES).

Proficiency in Spanish, French, and/ or Haitian Creole is an advantage, though not necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):

A Clinical Research Coordinator II may assist with the training and orientation of new staff members.
