POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance I position at New Flyer is open for internal candidates only. It offers a great opportunity to support the maintenance activities within our manufacturing environment. This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and assisting other maintenance staff in ensuring that production equipment and facilities are kept in optimal condition. The work schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 1:30 am.

Key responsibilities include routine inspections, minor repairs on machinery, general building upkeep, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The ideal candidate will contribute to efficiency and productivity by ensuring that all mechanical systems are functioning properly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and adhere to all company safety initiatives.
  • Support the quality and timeliness of the output of the maintenance group.
  • Participate in the daily maintenance huddle with a focus on achieving our preventative maintenance schedule as well as our unplanned maintenance requests.
  • Participate in cross-training to help ensure appropriate levels of coverage at all times.
  • Interface with other cells and departments as required in order to resolve issues.
  • Interface with outside contractor activities as required, ensuring the contractors are following applicable New Flyer rules and requirements.
  • Report unexpected issues and delays and bring forward ideas and options for resolution.
  • Understand and follow all relevant New Flyer policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical training in maintenance or mechanical fields is preferred.
  • Previous maintenance experience in an industrial setting is a plus, but candidates with a strong willingness to learn and develop their skills are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills are important for this role. Having a high level of mechanical aptitude and be able to interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics and manuals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to a specified weight limit, and to perform tasks requiring physical stamina.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime or weekends as needed.
