POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State Extension seeks an Area 4-H Educator who is responsible for creating and sustaining a high-performance organization culture within South Central Pennsylvania. Individuals in this position focus on state 4-H program development. They lead state and area 4-H teams to efficiently implement high-quality 4-H positive youth development programs. The Area 4-H Educator will work collaboratively with Extension Program Leader (ADP) and Extension leadership to support and supervise all 4-H Educators, Program Assistants, and wage/payroll staff within their assigned geographic areas on understanding the state extension program team model and program development, implementation, and evaluation process. The Area 4-H Educators will use their knowledge and skill set in coaching, mentoring and supervising the Educators, Program Assistants, and wage/payroll staff based in the assigned areas. In addition, the Area 4-H Educator provides overall leadership and coordination in building relationships and being a liaison to the CRM and BOM within the area to build support and manage relationships to establish positive collaborations with local agribusiness, youth organizations, and other community partners. Primary Responsibilities
While this position will serve multiple counties across South Central Pennsylvania, the candidate's residence does not need to be within those counties. The successful candidate must reside in Pennsylvania and be willing to travel as required to effectively support programming across the designated area. Candidates should have previous experience managing, directing, and developing 4-H positive youth development programs, including supervising staff and volunteers. In addition, candidates should possess teaching, program development, and evaluation skills, and demonstrate positive human relations and effective communication skills necessary to work effectively with youth, parents, volunteers, public officials, and the general public. The candidate must be able to carry equipment, educational materials, and supplies, with or without accommodation, and be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Master's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
